UPSPA is the largest pistol association within the United States. It is the US version of IPSC. USPSA is designed to test a shooter's ability to solve scenarios presented to them. As with IPSC, no two scenarios are the same. USPSA uses a mix of steel and paper targets. There are courses of fire, known as stages, and they are shot as described in the stage briefing. USPSA has multiple divisions for competitors, including 3 Gun, Shotgun, Rifle, and Pistol. PCC is gaining in popularity in USPSA.
